The Annual Filipino Food Festival at the Guam Reef Hotel

The Guam Reef Hotel and Cebu Plantation Bay Resort & Spa of Mactan Island, Cebu, Philippines is proud to announce the Celebration of the 112th Philippine Independence Day, the annual “PISTA SA GUAM REEF” starting June 7.  On its fourth year, Pista Sa Guam Reef is a long celebration of Filipino cuisines, music, arts & traditions.  Our visiting chefs from Cebu Plantation Bay are; Executive Sous Chef Dario Lim Roxas and Pastry Chef, Henry Fulton Abellana. Guests are treated to an array of amazing Filipino regional dishes ranging from Chicken Binakol ( Native Chicken cooked in young coconut juice with lemon grass), Bicol Express, Inasal Hokos, Insarabasab, Sinuam fish, Sinaing na Bariles, Puso sa Saging sa Gata, Pinaputok, Paella Valenciana, Kare-Kare and the famous Filipino Lechon de Cebu with Pinakurat sauce (available only during the Sunday Brunch).  For the foodies out there, the Filipino Lechon according to Mr. Anthony Bourdain of the No Reservations show, places at the top of his “Hierarchy of Pork”.  In addition, we shall be having the not-to-be missed Bibingkahan and Puto Bumbong station at the hotel lobby every Friday and Sunday to satisfy those cravings for authentic and tasty Filipino pastries baked in a traditional makeshift coal oven.

On June 12 at 7:30 AM, in coordination with Philippine Consular Office headed by the Hon. Consul General Bayani Mercado and the Filipino Community of Guam under the presidency of Mr. Alex Gagarin; a flag raising ceremony will be held at the Guam Reef Hotel Front Loop Lobby to celebrate the Philippine Independence Day, which will be followed by a Pinoy Almusal at the Alize Restaurant. Our guest of honor is the Gen. Manager of Cebu Plantation Bay Resort & Spa; Mr. Efren Belarmino. Selective Filipino singers will perform Filipino folk songs and original Filipino music on this day and every Friday and during our Sunday brunches for the month of June.

A grand raffle draw will conclude the festivities on June 20, 2010 and to celebrate the Father’s Day (Araw ng Mga Ama). Lucky patrons will win fabulous prizes courtesy of Guam Reef Hotel, Cebu Plantation Bay Resort & Spa and participating sponsors.
